The real estate moons are lined up and it appears a “rebound” in real estate is underway. So says many of the experts including the Cheif Economist with the California Association of Realtors who says it looks like this rebound is sustainable. Their is Gold in the form of real estate right in front of our noses. The most vulnerable properties for depreciating prices are of course the bank owned properties [or REOs] and Short Sales. It doesn’t mean as the name implies that they are sold in a short period of time….quite the contrary! Short in that the bank must settle for “short” of what they are owed.

In any event there are lots of them available right now; 333 in San Mateo County and 729 in Santa Clara County. If you are careful, do your homework, don’t get greedy, stay calm, and use common sense you have an excellent chance of buying a home at a great price whether you are a typical home buyer or a savy investor. The banks are anxious to remove these illiquid assets from their books and convert them into cash….something they know a little bit about. The banks can borrow from the Feds at Zero % interest and charge you what are unimaginable rates unheard of in my life time…and probably yours. Good luck and Good shopping!
